Attempt to terminate commuter benefits for active employees
Warning Code: EN203
Warning Message: An active employee should not have a terminated account
You will receive this warning if you use Terminated as the Account Status for Transit or Parking accounts for active employees. This is to ensure commuter benefits are not accidentally removed for active employees. For example,
- John is an active employee who has a Transit account.
- John no longer wants to contribute to this account. His pay period election should be set to $0.
- On the election file, John’s employee pay period election amount is updated to $0 and his Account Status is set to “Terminated”. In this case, you will receive the EN023 warning and the Transit account will be terminated according to the election file.
Commuter benefits are usually discontinued upon employee termination. If an employee is nearing termination, enter a future Account End Date in the election file to schedule the account termination. If the employee is not terminated, revert the Account Status back to Active to reactivate the account, ensuring that the employee retains access to the funds they have previously contributed to their commuter account.
